The Nutcracker Ballet
2024

On December 8, 2024, audiences joined the Performance Company dancers from Port Washington and West Bend Studios in a remarkable day of performances. The performances of the Nutcracker were presented as benefit concerts featuring talented performers ranging from age 5 through 18 along with guest artists.  The shows inspired and entertained, all while raising funds for two worthy causes. The community showed up and two large audiences enjoyed the Nutcracker Ballet.  The Profits from their ticket sales helped create positive change in our community.

Together, nearly $3000.00 was raised and donated to two causes dear to the hearts of our studio families. These events allowed the dancers to see the great impact their art can have on their community.

Proceeds from our Port Washington cast performance were donated to assist Lake Shore Dance alumna Hannah.  Her young son has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has just started chemotherapy. The concert raised $1,500 to support Hannah and her family. If you’re interested in helping further, her GoFundMe link is:

Proceeds from the West Bend cast performance were donated to the non-profit:  The LOVE >hate Project:

A real-life story that illuminates a pathway to the hidden blessings and healing always embedded in trauma. The LOVE>hate Project, founded in honor of Jessie Blodgett by her dad, works to END interpersonal violence through education.

This non-profit is dear to the hearts of the West Bend dancers; earlier this year they in a benefit concert to raise awareness and funds for the group.  Dancers volunteered their time and had the opportunity to share their art with survivors in an inspiring and eye-opening work.   Board Member and Lake Shore Dance Faculty Member/Alumna, Jesslyn, has facilitated the relationship between the studio and non-profit using dance as the medium.

What's Next?

It may still be chilly outside, but here at Lake Shore Dance, we are already thinking about summer!

Summer is an amazing time to try dance - our convenient 6 week session begins after Independence Day and ends mid-August allowing for Summer camps and family time that we all crave in the summer and allows for progression or introduction to dance to chase away the summer blues.

Registration will be open on April 15 to new families.   Classes will be offered in the evening and will have options for new and experienced students as young as 15 months through adults to explore dance.

Experienced dancers ages 8 and over have the opportunity to dance in the Quest Intensive - a 1 or 2 day workshop with classes taught by choreographers and teachers working professionally throughout the country.  This weekend is always an inspiration and one that your experienced dancer needs to be part of!  Experience the thrill of a convention with the personalized attention your child craves.

Classes fill up quickly - mark your calendar for April 15 and register right away!

Dedication

This season's presentation is dedicated to Mr. Chad Mach who passed away unexpectedly.

Chad has been an integral part of the Nutcracker Ballet at Lake Shore Dance for over a decade.

Most known for his appearance and development of "Herr Drosselmeyer" in his time, he also was a major part of the production aspect of the show.

His passing has left a hole in the hearts of our dance family, so the Company will honor his memory in this presentation of the Nutcracker.

A great decision

"My daughter started dance at 15 months, at first, we did not know if we should enroll her at a young age, but we soon realized after the first few classes that we had made the right and best decision.  The development we have seen in our daughter from her first class to recent has amazed us.. She is so happy when she goes into her class and has gained a lot of confidence in the movements she has learned.  The teachers are kind, patient, and understand how to work with each age group.  Not only is she learning the fundamentals of dance, but she is forming coordination and learning how to focus.
